Yeah sis, some guys you just can't dress them up and take them out in public.  .......  Take me for example.  People will stop me and tell me I look like Slash..... lol ..... seriously..... (and other stuff)  Probably a lot of women would not be able to handle the attention that I get in public.  I would need a very secure person to love.  Secure in Christ.  Unfortunately many of us put our security in other things.

I think a long distance love is a wonderful thing.  I have a long distance love with this guy up in space .... well maybe higher than space ... like in the heavens.  Grin  He is a heavenly guy.  Perfect.  Full of love.  He does not bust my chops.  He is a gentleman.  With manners.  Unlike the rogueish me.  And what's really neat is that even though we aren't a perfect match, since He's a perfect gentleman and I'm a Slashy rogue guy, He still loves me ... and wants me ... and blesses me. ....... Wow ... what a guy ... what a dreamy guy.  A long distance dreamy guy.               <><  <3

That's an excellent point about security. And it's attractive when you see someone who is. A person of either gender who is secure in who they are is going to draw people. But so few women are really secure... outside of the love of their God and their family and friends.  Undecided  I'm afraid it's in their genetic makeup....otherwise and much better known as the H word... Grin And no, folks... there's no double hockey sticks in it.....Cheesy LoL

Hi DIRTSQUEEZER

I did experience that lately, having a date with an American guy, so kind, well mannered I mean everything I would wish from a man.
He promised me to come and visit me in Belgium. But at the end he started to delay the date to visit me over and over.
I was confused, and seriously disappointed. At the end I even started to think he was lying or hiding something important to me.
So it ended there.
Still, I do believe in long distance relationships and if the love is true I would certainly move the other country if that's a decision to take.
After all you can start with taking a holiday first and time to know the person better.

Browning fell in love with Elizabeth Barrett's poetry before he ever met her... that's how she became Elizabeth Barrett Browning - and it was he who named her famous sonnets 'The Sonnets from the Portuguese" .. because when he finally met her - she was so dark-eyed and dark-haired that he said that she looked Portuguese.  It was a joke between them.

I think that you can fall in love with words, and you can fall in love with empathy.  In Browning's case - he fell in love with words, because he loved words.

However, when he met Elizabeth Barrett - he fell in love with her person too.  What if she'd had no teeth and bad breath?  What if she'd had body odour? 

Those who tell you that a meeting is essential are right.

However, I also think of all the British brides who came to marry Australian men without ever meeting them first - and I think that something similar happened in America too, didn't it?  (Isn't '7 brides for 7 brothers' based upon that?)

So ... a little bit of both.  I'm glad that you're attracted to someone because of their substance, however, and not just because they look good.

I like a long distance love because that way I can get to know what's on the inside of the gurl first .......... before the other stuff starts ... like when she meets me .. and we go out on a date .. and she starts pawing at me like a squirrel after a hickory nut ..... or maybe a gerbal after a sunflower seed.   Huh?   I hate it when that happens. Undecided   LoL   <>< <3

P.S.  AC, I ate a Belgium waffle once.  And I have a bracelet that was made in Italy.  And I like Muenster cheese.  So I guess you could say I'm kinda Euro.  Maybe a little.  Sort of.   ♪♫○♪♫

DS, you need to run a little faster if the romance is to blossom.  Are you satisfied with post exchanges?  Are you exchanging emails?  Have you made your first telephone call?  As men get older, some like just the feeling of taxing down the runway with no intentions of takeoff.

Would you be willing to share more details with your forum buddies?
