As we celebrate the Fourth of July let's remember our brave troops fighting for the freedoms of people.  Let's keep them in our prayers and keep an attitude of gratefulness for those putting their lives on the line, for some sacrificing their very lives, for the conditions they endure while we sit comfortably at home.  In this freedom and comfort, may we lift them in prayer.

Dear Heavenly Father,

I ask that you guide and protect all the men and women in the military and their families. If they do not know Jesus, I ask that you touch their hearts that they will come to know Him and His Saving Grace.  May they know that we care and are praying for them to come home as soon as possible.  In Jesus' Name, Amen.

THANK YOU to our Troops!

~HoneyGold

P.S.  If you need a visual reminder....youtube has tributes and dedication videos of/for our troops.

Thank you, veterans and current military; thank you for your service.

Dear Father in Jesus' name, guide and bless them and their loved ones. Bring them into Your Kingdom, save them, if they are not, to Your honor and glory and their great joy. Thank You for their courage and service.

Last night I enjoyed the firework display in down town Shreveport. The temperature was in the high 90's I believe, and that after 9 P.M. It had been above 100 degrees most of the day. We still went a sat on the ground to watch fireworks because that is a highlight for me. I cannot imagine not being able to enjoy this. I cannot imagine a 4th of July with out lights and booming sounds as a reminder of my freedom in this great nation. I am so grateful for those who have died so we can have/keep our freedom. I cannot imagine how they must feel when one does not repsect the nation, or the flag that represents this nation that many have given their life for.  I get angry when someone chooses not to stand for the national anthem, the pledge of allegiance and to salute the flag. (I realize we have the freedom to choose, but oh how our troops must feel at such disrespectful attitude....their life is on the line and we often treat it as a casual affair.) I hope where ever any military person is stationed that they felt appreciated yesterday by simply the thought that we in the USA enjoyed fireworks. Not to mention time with family and friends if we chose, a BBQ and cold drinks, lakes, boating, sports, or inside in nice air conditioning....etc. I am so grateful that yesterday when I awoke I could freely speak to Jesus and throughout the day I could hold conversation about the Word and talk about the Christ who set me free.

I by choice could get on facebook and myspace and this site and freely discuss what I chose to discuss, even the Word and Jesus as well as politics. I freely have more then one website that represents the Kingdom of God because I am free to do so. I can freely play worship music even drive down the road a loudly blast praise music like others do their style of music.

Thanks to all who have given to make this possible for me and mine. Simply Blessed by the Price OTHERS have Paid.

Prayer for our men and women in combat is extremely important, but I recently read a poem that talked about how a soldier can't see your yellow ribbon or your "Support the Troops" sign. They need tangible evidence.

I would suggest anysoldier.com, a web site run by a veteran. This site provides contact information for men and women serving in other countries. You can pick Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines and Coast Guard. You can also search for specific needs or a specific country. Letters are the most requested item. Include your prayers there!

Or send a care package or get well card to a recovering soldier at Walter Reed Hospital in Washington DC. There are also other adopt-a-soldier sites that match you with a specific service person.

Be salt and light!

Thank you, SNL, for posting this important message to help our soldiers.

I have mentioned things like sending small paperback Bibles, which my family did during the Kuwait war and to which many soldiers wrote letters back to my family sharing many things, including where they were at with the Lord. I'd included a witnessing letter with each Bible.  I am not saying everyone has to to do this, but I felt called to do that at the time.  I have also been in a letter writing ministry in a former church which writes letters to missionaries and I spent time writing letters to families with terminally-ill children in a secular program, so I know the wonderful thing just a letter can do for someone.  I do know that the power and comfort of a simple, good old-fashioned hand-written letters and cards is something they can read and re-read, and a way of being reminded that people are thinking about them, praying for them, grateful to them for their service.  I have also read something awhile back while looking online about ways to support our troops about sending donations to purchase cell phones for soldiers and other ways to support our troops.

I really appreciate the ones you have included here!   [thumbup]
