We had 9 seated for dinner tonight, frequent text messages from Ramone letting us know he was on his way, and a wonderful call from Joan.  I passed my phone around so all of us could say a few words to her.  2Bless brought flowers for everyone, and Chase brought chocolate.  Just what every lady likes - flowers and chocolate!  God was also present since He was in the hearts and lives of those who were present.  Some are staying overnight and getting together tomorrow. 

I'll give the forum an update later.  Anyone who was present at the dinner is welcome to add to what I say!

I was thrilled to meet all my ACS brothers and sister at DC. All were kind and sweet.
I was especially impressed by Steve1126. He is not only a kind gentleman, but a very fit and handsome young guy, with a very generous spirit.
I couldn't recognize a few of them by their pictures I have seen on ASC. They are much more beautiful than their pictures.

Sewing, is a tall and pretty lady and very loving and sweet indeed.

 Music,(Pam) what a wonderful sister. She arranged all for us to meet and have a good time. She has a servant's heart and is more than you can read in her posts. She is real.

2Bless2....precious, beautiful lady, with a big smile and heart full of love. Much more than I could imagine. A Sweetheart, just like you can read in her posts.

Chase_a_Dream (David) what a gentleman! Very gifted, very kind and sporty.He keeps sport's toys and massage tools with him everywhere, so we could massage one another's back and play in the fields while going on our little tour, down town W-DC.

Super Steve (Stephen) a very nice man of God. A wonderful brother with a big heart for the Lord.

Ramone (Ray) a half sleeping guy...not fun at all... [zowy] He sleeps and eats at the same time..ha..haa...just kidding. ;D He was tired of the long, long ride. I asked him to give me a ride on his bike, but he refused, leaving me heartbroken...not really. ;D He is a very kind gentleman. But very quiet in person.I guess his gift is in writting.

I have been blessed and privileged to meet all my friends and I look forward to meeting them again sometime in the future.Perhaps next time we meet in my country...both for ministry and fun.What do you think?

Quiet .... you call Ramone  quiet???   think sleep deprivation must have overpowered him then for he was non-stop talk the whole time Music & I were around him, especially when we went motorcyle parts shopping , touring all the little back roads of Maryland. sometimes seeing the same street names over and over again. And mind you that was NOT intentional touring --> we were (on Tuesday it was just me 'n' him as Pam had to go to work, the three of us went to an auto parts store on Monday and found one but it was a shade too high) were on a search for a m'cycle shop --> found the one in the tele book but that was closed months ago, then off to find NAPA but they did not have the exact size, they told us of a Harley shop so we explored our way to that one, finally finding what was needed. During all that the conversation was almost going as fast as my little GTI.
... so Ramone quiet ... hardly a chance.

HB you just got him when he was sleep deprived and his mind was probably on getting his bike fixed and he was probably still thawing out from his ride.

you should have heard him with all the houses we passed --> "LOOK AT ALL THE SNOW IN THE YARDS", a sight uncommon in Louisiana.  (the snow that was seen was remnants of where snow was plowed in piles, all the rest of the snowfall from the storms hasd melted except for where it was piled --> those original piles must have been so high)

Ramone even got a good view of the EPA building while we had taken a break in the museum.

I wasn't sure on if I'd go down or not but I'm so happy I did. I had a blast! It was so fun meeting everybody and on Sunday I didn't want to leave. I would have liked to have a chance to hang out with Ramone more but I had to leave not long after our Sunday lunch. It was a huge blessing to meet everybody and to develop new friendships.   [thumbup]

Thanks to all for the great posts about the dinner and other activities this past weekend.  Isn't saying something positive more fun than fighting?  Don't answer that.

We had a great group of ACS members attend the weekend activities.  The dinner scheduled for Saturday night was the kickoff for other weekend activities.  This event mushroomed much more than I expected.  I planned only a dinner on Saturday night that I assumed would attract a few locals in the area.  Instead, we had members come to DC from Virginia, northern Maryland, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Tennessee, and Louisiana.  I even received a couple of posts from people on the west coast who considered coming out.

Chase and 2Bless did a great job accompanying others to DC for a tour of the area on Sunday afternoon.  2Bless picked a wonderful Indian restaurant for those of us still in town on Monday evening.  I appreciate the support and assistance I received from both of them.  They are charming, outgoing, and fun!

I know.  Y'all want pictures.  Does anyone who attended the events object if I post a few?  I'll wait a couple of days to hear from y'all before posting them online.

If I was quiet at the dinners I was taking everything in ..... detail by detail (for those that spent a bit more time with me will know what I meant by that   [all I can say is my dad trained me well] )


I am greatly relieved that all have made it home safely (and hopefully sometime today the last sheep home is thawed out)

     It was great meeting everyone this past weekend. One of the things that struck me was

how many musically gifted people were in attendance. Before we were asked to stop singing ,
 
It was hard not to notice how many nice singing voices there were.

     There were some fun moments , but it was all too brief. I , of course , would have liked

a chance to talk with more of you one-on-one , but I really wouldn't have changed anything.

Ramone set the standard in his herculean effort make the trip despite frigid conditions.

     I hope everyone enjoyed themselves. Glory to God that a vision became reality.

HG:  .. almost 3000 miles roundtrip .. and sis, we missed you so much .. you and NM and .. everyone (can't list all the names, my brevity won't let me :) )  ..  We smiled .. we laughed .. we cried .. we sang .. we ate .. we walked .. we talked .. we prayed .. we swayed (a little, lol) .. we lurched(in traffic) .. we churched .. I made a special SM (Spiderman) appearance at an Indian cuisine restaurant ..... we ran out of water and Sewing and I left Music a lil gift.  LoL! [roflrofl] - a funny story - Ha Ha. 

The trip on my bike to DC was so cold that I almost hibernated. LoL  Snow was everywhere.  Someone told me they like 50 inches of snow this year.  A guy in Florida told me that FL had a 50 year record cold snap .. and I chose this year to ride my bike there.  [crazy]   Even my brother seemed amazed at the ride.  I've been further north on a m/c .. Rochester and Conn. .. both in the winter, one way though.. over 1500 miles each time.  Anyway I made it to church Sunday morning and had lunch (and dinner and breakfast, lol) and touring with my beloved aCs friends.

Briefly ..  The fellowship was sweet  ..  The sights were wonderful ..... giving evidence of a God that is Bright and Beautiful .. as reflected in his creation.

Wow HG ..... what brevity ..  only 2 lines (or so). :)  That's cool .......................

one thing you forgot HB .... you gotta  put up with a fitting to make sure it fits you well

I already have my pattern down (for the most part) ... even I need someone to help me with the fitting & length

Ramone was more like a human on Monday on our short trip into DC, and quite helpful in navigation on Tuesday on all the back roads of Maryland in search of a new battery for his motorcyle. He actually could hold a conversation.
I almost headed north at around 9am but ferried him all over every single road seeing some street names 5 times or more, finally getting back with the prized possesion around 2:30

     If anyone else is lamenting their current size , my only words to you are , " Be patient with yourself. "

     The only accurate assessment of our worth is what God thinks of us. If we have clothes that fit , we are wealthy beyond words. If , in your mind , you can envision the day when they fit comfortably , then you have hope too. There is beauty in an unfettered , smile that all the perfection of Madison Avenue cannot match.

Well I haven't seen them yet with the blackberry. But how would we know who is who when we see it. Could be confusing as we never saw each other in real life before. Maybe when I do see them we could say frm left to right who it is. I think when I see his bride and 2bless it will be obvious as there pics are up. Most don't have photos up according to what I hear. Ramone is a guitar. I think from what I hear I will know sewing too, blonde. I wish I had a big computer with photos. But I will see them soon hopefully. in speaking for myself, my understanding for the event was that there were to be no strings or pressure for romance. this is a gathering of Christians and nothing more.  Believe others stressed that point way ahead of this trip in earlier postings.
In doing that this leaves the door for just making friends wide open and gives each of us time to build friendships and to be there for each of our brothers and sisters. It will also create a closer bond just among this group. When the romance pressure is lifted things are so much easier
if the whole point of finding romance is the intent for an outing such as this it becomes easier for satan to come in and divide and deceive and feelings get hurt.

I am glad I came down, it strengthened an email connection, allowed for making friends with a few from this great site, opened the door to another culture (HB thank you for sharing about your part of the world ... outside of NJ), some of us even spoke to someone in another country on a cell phone.
I know it brought us closer as a family, something that Jesus would be smiling down on.

if anyone in attendance wants to add or back up what I've posted ... feel free.

now if this were another dating site doing something like a get together then the romance card would be more of a problem and a stresser for all - leaving many going home disappointed or deflated.

We had such joy, laughter, respect and peace meeting just to get to know other sisters and brothers in Christ

Well, speaking for myself, my bike and I have spent so much time with each other lately (about 3000 miles) that I am beginning to feel this attachment thing going on ... kind of like a bonding .. sort of.... kind of.  She has been a faithful bike ... there for me in cold and hot, wet and dry, fast and slow ..... always therefor me ... the wheelie in Daytona, the ticket in SoCar, the cold and the snow in D.C., at church in MD, in the mountains of Virginia, the hills of Tennessee .... my baby wuz there... 4 me.... always warm ... (except when I left her out in the cold for a few hours, lol) ... She burned hers lights for me as long as she could ... until her battery gave out.  What a gal..................... .......  I think I'm a gonna keep her.   [eyebrows]

ya better .... after alll the drivin' my little GTI did for that tiny yeller n black thing just to find a battery to keep the lights aburnin' for the ride back (and to safety)

Hah, seriously sis .. the last night we ate at a Indian cuisine restaurant.  I ate soft indian wheat bread and um chicken or something.  the night before that I ate steak and before that I don't remember.  At Pam's & the hotels I had a nice breakfast with scrambled eggs and waffles and juice and that kinda stuff.

I remember last night at the Texas Roadhouse with Ms Daisy, lol, short memory.  I had 10 oz. Ribeye and vegetables.  Yummy. .. and dinner rolls and peanuts LoL.

And no sis ... my sweet lil cycle would NEVER give me a bug like that.  It had to be one of my sisters.  LoL

thanks again guys for helping keep that bday card a secret, 2B2 was sooo surprised and thrilled ... it made her day (a bit early ... but we'll get her again).  and the post office did a good job ... ahead of schedule  (I asked about delivery time --> Sat or Mon)

Better late than never. Here it is a week after the get together, and I am just looking at these posts. I too very much enjoyed getting to know ya'll. (To put it in Tennessee Hillbilly talk.)

A slight suggestion for next time, or for anyone who might want to hold a get together like we did - perhaps it would be better to ask a church to let you use their kitchen, and a room to meet in. Maybe even have it catered. I think we would have had a much better time if we could have sung to our hearts content, in an atmosphere where the owner doesn't come over and ask us to be quiet. Other than that, we did have a great time getting to know each other.

SuperSteve - I planned only a dinner out, not a worship service, a singing event, a tour of DC, hosting visitors, or other entertainment.  I expected a few locals to show up to eat dinner and meet HisBride who was making a special trip to DC to see her friend and meet with us.  The event just took off with people from far away places coming in for a weekend of activities.  I tried to accommodate special requests but wasn't as successful as I would have liked.  2Bless and Chase were wonderful about stepping in to help out. 

Catering an event is a wonderful idea!  I actually thought briefly about reserving the fellowship hall at my church for singing, but it was being used for a special International potluck dinner to kick off missions emphasis month that weekend.  I didn't want to cater the event because that would require cleanup.  I wanted to be able to let someone else do the dirty work so I could spend time with the group.  Next time you guys give me some ideas for activities and locations, and I'll be willing to do the leg work.  Give me time though.  It's hard to plan a big event in just a couple of weeks. 

BTW:  I have made a new friend in my area who is a tour guide of DC on the side.  He's also an awesome musician.  Maybe I can recruit him to help us out next time.

Sorry sewing. I did not mean it to bother anyone. I also would have gone just to meet brothers and sisters. I was thinking of me how I would love to be in a romance. Valentines passed and I was thinking of me wanting romance somewhere. But at that event as there was no emails flying to me of romance I also would have expected friendship and brother or sister kinship. That is special to me. I don't look at every event as romance. The guys were acting like such gentle men (SuperSteve, Steve, Paladin, & Chase) that I thought sure at least one of them would attract a gurl.  Maybe they were trying to be a lil too spiritual.  I've done that and missed out on some good dates. 

Sometimes it's like the gals are not attracted to the spiritual or the gentleman but to something else, like a good talker or sometimes to the quiet guy who pays them little attention.

Who thinks that the ladies weren't interested in the men at the gathering?  All of the men I met were very charming and seemed like good Christian men.  The ladies were good women as well.  If there was/is a romance going on then I would think that the couple would be discrete and not broadcast it to the whole forum. 

The ladies and men acted like sisters and brothers and a family so no one felt left out.  That's how it should be.  If some of the brothers and sisters want to take the friendship a step further, then it's their business to do that privately.

I would say sis, not that it's all about me, but I am more about fellowship and ministering than sight seeing ... if I can't bless someone then to me it's just a pleasure trip.  I guess my attitude is, I wanna do what Paul did, not just go where he went.  (But hey, I like the dancing and the partying (Godly) too.)  :)  It is written, Make a joyful noise unto the Lord!

Hey sister Joan, did you see my videos on youtube?  I got a vid where I play guitar and sing and another where I'm showing off my ceramic tile floor job.  That's me in both videos.  In one vid I got my hair down and no beard.  In the other vid I have my hair in a pony tail and have a goatee.  Some of the gals have a photo of me looking like Spiderman.  How did you picture me?  Like a guitar?  LoL  It was really a pleasure meeting everyone.  It was a kindred mind kinda thing.  Kinda like a family reunion or a family first meeting thing .. except nobody was rushing out to hug somebody with arms a flailing and boo hooing all over the place and crying out "Ohhhh I miss you so badly!  Waaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh!"  LoL   ;D
