When I talked about a gal, Daddy said, "Just ask her out!"  (And I was like .. uh, yeah .. that's a good idea, lol.)

When I dated the gal, he said, "Treat her gently." (I was a joker back then .... guess I still am, lol.)

When I broke up with the gal, he said something like, "There's more fish in the sea.  Marry Doug's wife.  They are divorced and she has money."  LoL  Ah dear old Dad, you just gotta love him.  Smiley

I don't want to say. My father is totally put downish to everyone and an atheist. The daddy said I listen to is the lord. I cried so many hours why God gave me a father that was a bully type. Very difficult person. Well God said joan I will speak to you. You can come to me anytime I love you. You are my child and I love you. That is the daddy I listen to

Joanie - you are listening to the right Daddy - Abba Father!  We will pray for you earthly father that he will come to know the Lord! [pray]

My daddy told wonderful stories.  He told about Brer Rabbit and Brer Fox.  He let us jump on top of him when my sister and I were small kids.  He took me ice fishing and river fishing.  He told about Jonah and the Whale.  He wrote poetry.  He played the harmonica.  He told jokes.  He'd smile at the ladies and tell them that their hair looked nice or that shore was a pretty blouse they were wearing.  He would enter a restaurant, store, any public place and try to befriend everyone in the place.  He'd brag on his kids. 

When he got sick and had to go to a nursing home for the last two years of his life, he put out his nameplate in case any of the staff or residents needed him to counsel them.  During the last few months of his life, he led to the Lord one of the young men who helped lift him in and out of bed.  Then each day he would quiz the worker to see if he had read his Bible or prayed that day.  My daddy had his faults (I could name a bunch, but I won't.), but he was definitely a wonderful daddy who loved the Lord.  He said that staying in that nursing home helped him strengthen his prayer life and his relationship with the Lord.

Glad you are up in heaven serenading everybody with your harmonica.  I'll be up there one day with my flute and join you.

Hey Joan, I used to talk to my dad about the Lord and listen to his 'rebuttals' until I would cry.  He would not go to church ... but he loved us and raised us well.  I wish he would have had us in church more often as children but I won't complain for we were never abused or abandoned or fatherless like so many have suffered.  He spent a lot of time with us not only clothing and feeding and housing us but loving, teaching, being a good example, encouraging us when we were down, and sometimes whipping our buts when we were disobedient.

I learned how to be a good man from my dad.  I learned how to be a good Christian from the Lord ..... and from Christian 'fathers' and 'mothers' and 'brothers' and 'sisters'.

God is our daddy.  Abba Father means Daddy.
