I have forgotten to grease or oil my pan, too...more than once.  There have been a couple times I have scraped the batter back into the bowl, washed the baking pan, put the batter back in the pan, and then put the batter--in the oiled pan--in the oven to bake...Are we having fun yet? lol.   [thinking] Sometimes I have not caught my error in time. I remember after it is baked.   Grrrrr.  lol  [eyebrows]

[crazy].. made for some mighty funny looking loafs.. lol Fortunately, everybody always ate them anyway... I have a really sweet family when it comes to stuff like that...most of the time...lol

I guess it all depends if it is Fairy Tale bread or Fairy Tale cake or what.

Once upon a time in the Land of Smooshed Stuff.....

a princess was practicing her cooking and baking skills.......It was a land of the forgotten oil in the pan, a land where pans would try to rob the bakers of their baking successes by hanging onto the baked good and not wanting to let go............Any morsel the princess could pry from the pan to serve her guests was a struggle.....leaving her with smooshed pieces of something that was supposed to be cake or......maybe..... a muffin...... [thinking]

Ahhh..........whip cream and a cherry on top to the rescue...maybe... [thinking]  [thumbup]

Later at dinner....

I planned it to look like that.  Really.   [eyebrows]  It's an old family recipe.  J/K!

OK... SO... apparently... there are some substitutions that do not work across the board.  Butter for Crisco....and baking powder for baking soda.  Grin Tried to make cookies for my neighbors today for Christmas, and well....I couldn't find any baking soda or Crisco....LoL
Anybody up for a chocolate cookie flop? I've lots to give away. Cheesy They still taste great- I tried a half one just to make sure. LoL

Yeah...in some recipes...when it calls for baking soda...it really means only baking soda.

Are you going to tell them the cookies are Fairytale Cookies?  Cool

Actually I could use some good suggestions for peace offering  to my neighbors...if anybody has any ideas. I'd like to do a card or something but not sure what to say...

Freshly-baked muffins or a basket of fresh fruit or veggies.  It doesn't have to be huge or grand.  It can be a small thoughtful basket with some nice fresh vine tomatoes and a couple of fresh avocados or something.  Or a small, thoughtful basket with nice apples, maybe two kinds, or some apples and fresh pears.  I sometime combine some nuts in shells, apples, and some cookies if the basket is a little larger.  A covered little box or cuffed paper bag makes a simple container, maybe add a bow.

Oh. Ooops...it's late I didn't quite catch "card".  I like to make many of my cards.  I either paint a store-boughten blank card or do creative cut out pics.  In other words I cut out the different components of the pic I am making.  One card I make is a shape of a butterfly picture cut out.  I sometimes do draw and paint my own butterfly, sometimes use a pic of a butterfly and glue it on card stock then trim it...but I leave a lil' of the colored trim around the butterfly.  Then I crease it very close to both sides of the butterfly's body leaving a small strip for gluing, then glue that little strip to the card.  It creates a 3-D affect.  The wings stick out from the card. I draw antennae right onto the card. Inside, I glue a quote or something printed on my printer, or a hand pen something, too.

Seed packet fronts make pretty cards, trim off the extra stuff and back with another color and then glue on for card front.  Seed packets or bulbs are also nice to give for planting in the spring.

Sometimes I draw an animated bunny (or rabbit), cut it out, glue it on a card, and do not glue down the arms.  I fold them criss-cross sort of 3-D.  It's a HUG card.  But you might not be that close to your neighbors.  Dunno.

Simple sayings or quotes are nice on a card front, too.  Or framed.  Depends how well you know your neighbors.

Or a CD. Music is always great if you know their taste.  Maybe some lullabies to help them go back to sleep after their neighbor blows her car horn and wakes them up.  lol
